BORT ROM shoulder and arm orthosis

Various elbow complaints may require immobilization during treatment. The BORT ROM shoulder and arm orthosis allows comfortable immobilization according to the angle based on the injury. The field of application includes, for example, epicondyle fracture, elbow or prosthesis implantation. The BORT ROM shoulder and arm orthosis also provides stabilization and a faster healing process after elbow ligament surgery or general elbow instability. The orthosis is easy and comfortable to wear thanks to its light construction and breathable material.

How to use:
In order to put on the orthosis correctly, both the upper and lower arm attachments must be loose. Based on this, the optimal application can be established (the lock on the plastic part is open). These activities take place together with the patient. Then close the plastic locks again. The purpose of the next step is to determine the length of the handle. To do this, open the screws under the plastic support and place it on the handle so that the elbow joint is exactly at the same level as the swivel joint. Before you put the orthosis on the patient, the range of motion must be established. To adjust it, open the raised locking mechanism and push the black adjustable part towards the center of the joint. Then you can adjust the orthosis to the desired angle (flexion and extension). When putting on the orthosis, the patient must hold the handle with the injured hand. Initially, the patient takes hold of the upper cuff and pulls it around the upper arm, ensuring a comfortable feeling when using it. Micro velcro is designed to fix the cuff. Then do the same with the lower sleeve. The shoulder strap allows complete immobilization of the elbow joint. It is attached to the upper and lower parts of the orthosis with a strap loop. To apply the orthosis, the strap must be placed over the shoulder. Finally, it is necessary to check whether the orthosis has been correctly applied to the patient.

INDICATIONS
Post-traumatic or surgical mobilization of the elbow joint with limited range of motion and immobilization of the proximal radial humeral joint, such as conservative/post-operative treatment, radial femoral head fracture, elbow dislocation, distal humerus fracture, prosthetic implantation.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD), impaired lymphatic drainage and indistinct soft tissue swelling away from applied support, loss of sensation, circulatory problems and skin rash in the treated body area.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW
The product is intended for use by one person only. If you have to wear the orthosis at night as recommended by your doctor, avoid obstructing blood circulation. If you feel numbness, remove or loosen the orthosis. If you continue to have complaints, contact your doctor immediately.
