BORT OmoBasic® shoulder and forearm orthosis

Immobilization is a common method of treating injuries and sprains, which significantly speeds up the treatment process and reduces possible additional injuries. The orthosis supports damaged tissue structures (joints, ligaments, joint capsules, cartilage). With the BORT OmoBasic® shoulder and forearm orthosis, you can keep the shoulder joint and elbow comfortably and safely close to the body.

How to use:
The OmoBasic® shoulder and forearm orthosis should be fitted by a specialist. 1. Place the injured hand through the orthosis and pull it up so that the fingertips are out. Then, with the other hand, pull the orthosis upwards towards the shoulder joint. Make sure you don’t pull it too hard on the shoulder joint. Now guide the shoulder strap around your shoulders and neck towards the front of your body. 2. Bend the injured arm below 90° from the elbow, unless otherwise recommended by the doctor. To stabilize the arm, pass the shoulder strap under the wrist and then fasten with velcro. 3. Route the body strap attached to the arm portion away from the arm, around the back toward the arm being immobilized. Then bring the strap forward from the body to the arm, around the upper arm and then around the body. 4. Now fasten and make sure the orthosis is firmly in place.

INDICATIONS
Before and after surgery, post-traumatic use, such as sprains, dislocations, humerus fracture, scapula fracture, shoulder muscle tear.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD), impaired lymphatic drainage and indistinct soft tissue swelling away from applied support, loss of sensation, circulatory problems and skin rash in the treated body area.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW
The product is intended for use by one person only. If you have to wear the orthosis at night as recommended by your doctor, avoid obstructing blood circulation. If you feel numbness, remove the support or loosen it. If you have persistent complaints, consult a doctor.
